Dancing With Paris – There’s Something In The Water

North America continues to see many new bands joining in the hardcore scene. This makes an increase in quantity but not always in quality music. The use of MySpace makes it easy for bands to post their full albums for free download and allows us to choose between the good and the bad. Dancing With Paris, from Toronto Ontario, have recently released their first EP ‘There's Something In The Water’, on their official site for free download. After listening I have definitely put this EP on the good list.

Even Dancing With Paris’s MySpace layout is unique. You see what looks like colourful crayon drawings covering the site. It is a very differentiating look compared to other band’s site layouts. On the site you will see a cartoon drawing that will lead you to a page to download their EP.
Listening to this EP is easy listening because of the good quality and very refreshing style. It offers nice pop rock melodies but leads into some heavy hardcore riffs. The drums are very much the spine to the songs, keeping its simplicity and at times becoming transition fills which can be best heard in the song ‘Bled Dry’. Also the guitars are very simple which is rare in the world of hardcore. Like the guitars the vocals are very simple and they are not usually heavy. All in all the songs are simple but very catchy, making for an easy record to listen to. It would be a great introduction album to get someone into the hardcore scene. If any indie labels want a good poppy hardcore band this is the band for you.
